The Absurdity Of Julianne Malveaux's Position That Climate Change Is A Civil Rights Issue

According to Julianne Malveaux  Climate Change  is a civil rights issue.  That is without a doubt the biggest kettle of horse dung I've read in quite sometime. This is preposterous on so many levels that my mind is reeling in bewilderment laced with amusement due to the absurdity and awe at the unmitigated gall of black intelligentsia (I use that term loosely).  She is no better than a dope dealer in my opinion. She is pushing a drug of sorts a "grievance" opiate that so many of us black folks are addicted to. Whatever, it takes  for us to achieve the "victim" high -- right Ms. Malveaux. It's horrifying that as the President of Bennett College that Julianne Malveaux  is shaping the minds of young black women.  She is the greatest example of a sell-out as she executes the dictates of Adolf Hitler who wrote: "All propaganda has to be popular and has to accommodate itself to the comprehension of the least intelligent of those whom it seeks to reach."  

What do the "least intelligent" black folks understand best? Racism. Both real and imagined.

She writes: "Climate change is more than an environmental issue. It is a human rights and economic justice issue. Why? Because though climate change impacts all of us, different nations, and different communities within nations, experience the effects of climate change in varying ways, some worse than others."

Notice how what used to be called "Global Warming" is now "Climate Change" since the weather isn't cooperating with Al Gore and the UN's hoax. They have opted to change the name in an effort to hide the fact their data is cooked, contrived, bogus and dead wrong. Isn't it curious how they claim that CO2 levels are rising but the global temperatures are not rising as predicted? Hmm....how do they get around that? Diversion is how. They start a dialogue about social injustice. Historically it's worked like a charm. They employ influential black people (Margaret Sanger used black ministers) to carry the message (propagandize) to the masses and before you know it Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid cut deals behind closed doors and legislation is pushed through whether the people who are wise to their devices like it or not.

She continues: "This point was clearly made at last month's U.N. climate change conference in Copenhagen, where it quickly became evident that the rich and powerful nations — particularly the U.S. and members of the European Union — dictate the debate at the expense of poorer countries. That needs to change."


So according to Ms. Malveaux and the UN poorer countries should be able to force the United States (who will be a poorer country if Obama acheives his goals) to give them our wealth ( I hear a Van Jones loop playing in my head -- "give them the wealth, give them the wealth"). How is this not wealth distribution also known as Socialism? It is wrong according to Ms. Malveaux that the US should dictate the debate. The debate should be dictated by Zimbabwe or Chad or some other 3rd world country apparently via international treaty-- United States sovereignty be damned.

She also writes: "Robert Bullard, who runs an environmental justice program at Clark Atlanta University, has noted that the adverse impacts of climate change fall most heavily on people of color who are concentrated in urban centers, coastal regions and areas where the air quality is poor."

What does climate change and pollution (poor air quality) have to do with each other?  Oh, silly me how could I have forgotten. According to the Socialist religion known as Global Climate Change the Earth is over-populated which leads to too many people breathing and exhaling the pollutant known as Carbon Dioxide (CO2). So if one were to follow this to it's logical conclusion then we'd understand why abortion is so important and necessary (especially in the black community where 80% of the abortuaries are located). No wonder China has a one child rule -- coming soon to America folks. What about all those old people exhaling CO2? Do you think ObamaCare will go green and give the aged a little "nudge" by informing them of there duty to die in order to improve the air quality and all? It's sounds absurd but following the logical path and our current tract how far-fetched is it really. I'm sure 30 years ago same-sex marriage was absurd. Hey, that fits into the paradigm as well because same sex couples can't procreate little "breathers" who pollute the enviroment.

Fortunately, however God is on the throne! He sits high and  He looks low (real low). So in that knowledge, I'll try not to get so angry and riled up remembering Who is in control.

These incredibly misdirected people are idiotically praying to their golden calf, their lord Barack Obama. Many of the Christians that I know who voted for President Obama would deny that they worship him and perhaps they don't. But the stupid fools in this video-- well, what else can you call this?

This is wrong on so many levels. But the part about Obama delivering them from "fears that replace God's abundance"betrays the hypocrisy of environmentalism. Well isn't that what the whole green movement is about? It seems liberals believe that God only has abundance when it suits their issue and he lacks abundance when it doesn't. God is abundant enough to give health care to all inhabitants of this land legal or illegal without raising taxes or cutting medicaid but God doesn't have enough abundance to replenish the Earth that He created...only humans can do that through cap and trade (tax).

The liberal mind is utterly twisted and sick. Black Christians are equally twisted and sick -- because too many professing followers of Christ have thrown the Lord Jesus Christ under a bus trusting and believing that Barack Obama will "hear your cry and deliver you". Even if you don't believe that you still threw Christ under a bus it you voted for a candidate who stands in direct, undeniable, unquestionable opposition to those things you are called to uphold as a follower of Christ.

I'm not saying Barack Obama is the Anti-Christ, but he sure does have that "spirit" and so do the stupid fools praying to him in the video.

By this you know the Spirit of God: Every spirit that confesses that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is of God, and every spirit that does not confess that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is not of God. Since The Real God Is Not Welcome In America, It's Only Natural That He Would Be Replaced

The pathology of liberalism becomes more apparent daily. They despise anyone would professes deep and abiding love the the Lord Jesus Christ and regard people of faith as stupid, nonthinking, anti-intellectuals. Yet they abject themselves before an adulation seeker and bestow all manner of wisdom, experience, compassion and superhuman abilities upon him. Equally infuriating to liberals are men who aren't seeking adulation as these liberals want someone to adulate. It is very sick.

Evan Thomas says:
"Well, we were the good guys in 1984, it felt that way. It hasn't felt that way in recent years. So Obama’s had, really, a different task We're seen too often as the bad guys. And he – he has a very different job from – Reagan was all about America, and you talked about it. Then Thomas elaborates on Obama as God, as he patronizingly says:

"He's going to bring all different sides together...Obama is trying to sort of tamper everything down. He doesn't even use the word terror. He uses extremism. He's all about let us reason together...He's the teacher. He is going to say, ‘now, children, stop fighting and quarreling with each other.’ And he has a kind of a moral authority that he – he can – he can do that.

HE HAS THE MORAL AUTHORITY? What???!!!! Authority given by whom? Well, Rush Limbaugh now calls the media "State-Run Media" and he couldn't be more correct. I guess the state run media along with Obama sycophants and various other Liberal-types have bestowed said authority upon The counterfeit One.

Further, what an arrogant airhead Evan Thomas is -- Who's he referring to when he says "children?" Oh, yes how could I have forgotten to the Modern Liberal Americans are children and so following their pathological logic the leaders of the world must be children as well and Obama the leader of the World not just America is the benevolent "Father" aka counterfeit "god the father" (can't bring myself to capitalize it but you get my point). Well, If Barack Obama is god then I AM AN ATHEIST!

I am reminded of a very scary book I read by C.S Lewis several years ago called The Heinous Strength. I can't help but think about the spiritual apostasy which abounds in this age and how the the spirit of anti-Christ can appear as light to those who are not spiritually discerning. I'm not saying that President Barack Obama is the Anti-Christ but if those who are called to be salt and light have no concerns about following and supporting this man, its going to be a veritable cake walk when the real Anti-Christ comes.

John MacArthur is one of my favorite preacher/teachers and once again in this series Pastor MacArthur "unleashes God's truth one verse at a time" as he answers these questions: "How do we contend for the truth? How do we preserve the truth? How do we protect the church and the people that are coming to the church desiring to know the truth? How do we protect ourselves? How do we survive in increasingly apostate times? And Paul, of course, told Timothy at the end of his life that evil men will grow worse and worse. And Paul indicated in his letter to the Thessalonians that the apostasy would escalate as you got closer to the end. How do we survive? How do we protect the truth? How do we engage in a triumphant battle in the midst of apostasy?

He discusses the lack of discernment within the church:"Why is there such a lack of discernment? Reason number one, because there's a weakening of doctrinal clarity and conviction. A cheap gospel, as it's called, easy believism, tolerance, unity, openness, there is a negative attitude toward being narrowed toward being doctrinal. There's even a negative attitude towards saying this is a true interpretation and that is not. It seems like everybody is entitled to his own spin on everything. The church has been invaded with liberalism, psychology, charismaticism, politicism. It's forced its way into the church and, of course, whenever error wants to find a place in the church, it has to find a way to get rid of dogmatism. The only way that error can be accepted in the church is if people are no longer going to hold a doctrinal standard. And so that's what happens. These forces that are outside the Bible demand acceptance, demand a place in the church and so they push dogmatism aside. The emphasis in the church then goes from preaching doctrine to the mind for the purpose of people giving greater glory to God through His Word, to inducing pleasant emotion, pleasant feeling, good feeling, fun, personal comfort, etc. Worship descends from singing truths about God, lyric-centered music full of theology, to that Seven-Eleven music, seven words repeated eleven times which is dominated by volume, rhythm, harmony, to induce warm, fuzzy and sensual moods. So you have a weakening of doctrinal clarity and conviction. People don't know what doctrines they believe, they're not clear on them and they don't have convictions about them. (this is why so many in the body of Christ support Barack Obama-CBW's words not John MacArthur's)

Pastor MacArthur aptly describes this as "Spiritual Terrorism" he says: "Failure to confront spiritual terrorists destroyed the church at Pergamos, they allowed some who held the teaching of Balaam, they allowed some who held the teaching of the Nicolaitans and it destroyed the church and the Lord says, "If you don't repent, I'm going to come quickly and make war against you with the sword out of My mouth." It destroyed the church at Thyatira because they tolerated the woman Jezebel who taught the people to commit acts of immorality and eat things sacrificed to idols. As I told you, it destroyed the church at Sardis and soiled their garments. And on the other hand, there was the church of Smyrna in Revelation 2 that maintained its purity and the church at Philadelphia that maintained its purity and God promised them a blessing. Churches that stop spiritual terrorism at its border by profiling them, understanding who they are, protect themselves and then face the incredible responsibility to give those same terrorists the gospel. To this we are called, to this great challenge."

What a powerful message. What are you going to do? Pick up your cross and follow Christ or mind your business as you strive for tolerance and political correctness?

H.R. 1913 Government Mandated Belief System

Congressman Steve King (R-IA) introduced an amendment to H.R. 1913 Law Enforcement Hate Crimes Prevention Act bill to remove Pedophiles as a protected class under the law and Congressman Tom Rooney (R-FL) offered an amendment to include veterans as a class protected . Look at how the Democrats voted:

Every single Democrat voted it down. Does this mean that because I find pedophilia repugnant that I am breaking the law if I say so out loud because that would be "hate speech"? Ok, I have to ask again....Those of you who profess Christ how can you continue to support politicians who are in favor of protecting pedophiles? Are the special interest of pedophiles more important to you than your very own special interest which is your right to express your spiritual convictions?

This bill presupposes that because one finds a lifestyle, sexual act or sexual orientation personally distasteful, repugnant or even repulsive that merely by harboring such feelings leads to the action of inflicting bodily harm. If I happen to have a physical altercation with a homosexual or a pedophile person (which would never happen) and I whoop their azz (which is equally unlikely since I don't know how to fight) then I could receive an "extra" penalty for "preconceived hatred" as well has whooping their azz. Of course it would be a foregone conclusion that I must "hate" homosexuals because I believe what the Bible says about homosexuality. Actually homosexuals should be outraged that they are placed in the same category as pedophiles and necrophiliacs.

H.R. 1913 is yet another brainchild of political correctness advocates aka liberal democrats who are teetering dangerously close fascism. What else do you call this sort of thought policing? This bill is the government's attempt to infringe on our conscience and demand that we believe only that which is deemed as politically correct. So, as Christians we are facing big trouble because the Bible is not politically correct. But on second thought many Christian don't let their faith hinder their political sensibilities.

Update: It has been suggested by our resident liberal contrarian UptownSteve that the right is just making this up and that pedophiles are not a protected class under HR 1913. So I have found the video of Alcee Hasting reading the amendment to HR 1913 which outlines what sexual orientiations "isms" are to be protected:

There are many "themed" Bibles on the market and all of them contain commentary. So I'm thinking if God could use a burning bush or a talking ass to make himself known then I don't begrudge Thomas Nelson publishers the opportunity to use Barack Obama (who for some is also a talking ass) to lead the lost to the Word of God. Heaven knows Obama acolytes will buy a Bible which heralds their savior.

Jesus, The Name Above Every Name...Except Barack Obama's

UPDATE: CNS News says that it was at the request of the White House that the name of Jesus was removed.

Scandalous is the only word I can conjure to accurately describe the fact that Georgetown University removes the Holy Name of the Lord Jesus Christ from the archway above the dias to accomadate PSBO. This first hand account was written by Dawn over at The Dawn Patrol h/t to Robert of Can You Handle Truth for bringing this to my attention. Dawn writes:

At Georgetown University today, while sitting in the press section at Gaston Hall awaiting the arrival of President Obama for a "major address" on economics, I overheard a reporter discussing the advance text of the speech.

The reporter said that senior presidential adviser David Axelrod had compared Obama during his European trip to one planting seeds for a harvest. Along the same lines, he noted, in today's speech, Obama was set to use another Gospel analogy: that of the "house built upon a rock."

And so it came to pass, beneath Gaston Hall's beautiful painting of Morality, Faith, and Patriotism, with gold letters on the wall behind him spelling the Jesuit motto "Ad majorem Dei gloriam"—"To the greater glory of God"—Obama shared his prosperity gospel at the nation's oldest Catholic university.

But there was one thing missing: Jesus' name.

I'm not just talking about Obama's failing to mention Jesus—though he did pointedly fail to mention the name of the One—that is, for him, the other "One"—who first told the "parable" he shared.

No, Jesus' very name, in the form of the ancient monogram IHS, which had been in gold lettering on the wooden archway above Gaston Hall's dais, was painted over (or otherwise expertly camouflaged) prior to Obama's arrival. Apparently, the Name that is above every other name is not permitted to be above Obama.

The photo above shows the archway "before." You can see the "after" clearly in C-SPAN's video, as Georgetown President John DeGioia emerges to give his fawning introduction.

(I became aware of the cover-up after the speech, when it was pointed out by pro-life advocate Larry Cirignano in an e-mail forwarded to me. Whether Georgetown University initiated it or did it at the request of the White House is unknown at this time.)

As for Obama's address, here is how the most pro-abortion, pro-infanticide elected official in history appropriated the words of Our Saviour:

There is a parable at the end of the Sermon on the Mount that tells the
story of two men. The first built his house on a pile of sand, and it was
destroyed as soon as the storm hit. But the second is known as the wise man, for
when "…the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat
upon that house…it fell not: for it was founded upon a rock."We cannot rebuild
this economy on the same pile of sand. We must build our house upon a rock. We
must lay a new foundation for growth and prosperity – a foundation that will
move us from an era of borrow and spend to one where we save and invest; where we consume less at home and send more exports abroad.

No mention of Jesus. It's just a parable about a house built upon a rock.

In Obama's hands, the words of Our Lord become just another way to tell the story of the Three Little Pigs.

He resumed the analogy as he capped off his speech:

There is no doubt that times are still tough. By no means are we out of
the woods just yet. But from where we stand, for the very first time, we are
beginning to see glimmers of hope. And beyond that, way off in the distance, we
can see a vision of an America’s future that is far different than our troubled
economic past. It’s an America teeming with new industry and commerce; humming with new energy and discoveries that light the world once more. A place where anyone from anywhere with a good idea or the will to work can live the dream they’ve heard so much about. It is that house upon the rock. Proud, sturdy, and unwavering in the face of the greatest storm. We will not finish it in one year
or even many, but if we use this moment to lay that new foundation; if we come
together and begin the hard work of rebuilding; if we persist and persevere
against the disappointments and setbacks that will surely lie ahead, then I have
no doubt that this house will stand and the dream of our founders will live on

He Would Not Come Down From The Cross & He Lives

This was scheduled to post tonight at midnight but I can't wait. I'm so happy and my heart is filled with love and gratitude for what my Savior did for me at Calvary...did not come down from the Cross and He Lives!!!!

I love Resurrection day (Easter). Hearing these songs performed on Easter Sunday morning is the one thing I miss about the Black Church. Calvary, He would not come down (I can't decide which version I like best James Cleveland, Donald Vale or GWMA so I posted all three because I can never get enough) and He Lives.

A Nation Forsaking It's God....

PSBO has been in office 71 days and already he has denied the role that Christianity has played in the founding of this nation. He has denied Jesus Christ and the blessings that He has bestowed on this nation. I'm not surprised. I knew this would happen and I'm am heartbroken that so many Christians have gleefully thrown our Lord under a bus as they continue to support PSBO and his wicked, Godless agenda. It has come to my attention today that our Miscreant-In-Chief is planning to roll-back the conscience clause: "The Obama administration plans to reverse a regulation from late in the Bush administration allowing health-care workers to refuse to provide services based on moral objections, an official said Friday. The Provider Refusal Rule was proposed by the Bush White House in August and enacted on January 20, the day President Barack Obama took office. It expanded on a 30-year-old law establishing a "conscience clause" for "health-care professionals who don't want to perform abortions."
So, the change that liberals and not so liberal Black American Christians were so excited about is turning out to be unadulterated tyranny. Medical professional may soon be forced to perform abortions or lose their jobs. How on Earth Christians can get the warm and fuzzies about PSBO is beyond me. Yes, I question exactly what god they are serving as it can't be Christ Jesus -- it can't be!

Evangelism Highjacked By Closet Theological Liberals

Hat Tip to Ingrid Schleuler of Slice of Laodicea for linking the article by Peter Jones reprinted below. He describes the Christless Christianity he witnessed at the National Pastors' Conference sponsored by Zondervan and Intervarsity Press last month.

It is amazing to see how these once faithful publishers of evangelical orthodoxy are now consistently and deliberately launching a massive but subtle attack against the "Fundamentals" for which Evangelicalism stood courageously against liberalism in the past.

While I am struck by the sincerity of the brilliant public speakers (named below), who still have evangelical piety and passion, their openly-stated theology is turning large swathes of the evangelical church into various new forms of old-fashioned though very cool liberalism.

1. UNDERMINING OF SCRIPTURE: Brian McLaren is still widely featured here. He believes that the age of sola scriptura is over. Rob Bell, a plenary speakers, believes the Bible is a "human product...not the product of divine fiat" Little wonder Mr. Bell's former colleague at Mars Hill of Grandville, MI, Ron Golden, now Senior Vice President of World Relief, a ministry of the National Association of Evangelicals, in a seminar I attended, openly boasted, "Karl Barth is my theological mentor." Barth undermined the classical orthodox doctrine of Scripture. Is it surprising that in all the plenaries except one, there was no biblical exposition?

2. THE ABSENCE OF CHRIST: Christ's atoning death was passed over in silence. A few examples:

--In the middle of a "worship service," Andy Crouch of IVP interviewed A.J. Jacobs, an editor at Esquire magazine, about his book, The Year of Living Biblically. Jacobs, a non-practicing Jew, lived for one year according to OT laws, letting his beard grow, wearing Kosher clothes and practicing Sabbath and the Ten Commandments. Crouch did not remind him that the New Testament was part of the Bible, nor that Jesus saw himself as the very center and goal of the Old Testament (Luke 24:27). Jacobs concluded, to applause, that he had become a "reverential agnostic."

--Christ is absent but "Jesus" is here, as the architect of a socio-economic revolution that he began while on earth that we must finish, with the help of all religionists and globalist socialists of good faith. Shane Claibourne (30), who looked like a youthful throw-back from the Sixties, with tee shirt, very baggy slacks and very long hair constantly exhorted people to get serious about non-materialistic living. His model was Mother Theresa with whom he worked in India, but never once did he make any attempt to include the Gospel of saving grace as the motivation for Christian service. McLaren summed it up: "Jesus teaches a way of life rather than a set of beliefs."

Every video clip from World Vision and other ministries was exclusively about digging wells in Africa. Not a word was uttered about preaching the Gospel to Africans bound in pagan practices or Moslem darkness. We are losing our nerve and closing our mouths! Sooner or later, we will endorse all "valid" spiritualities, as do McLaren and Bell.

A GLOBALIST FUTURE

The other half of the very center of the Gospel-Jesus's physical resurrection-was also absent. A miraculous divine transformation of the physical universe really does not fit this new liberal social gospel of the kingdom, which comes incrementally through our works of social justice. Certainly, eschatology is not a Left Behind "board game figuring out where we are," but when asked about the Early Church's expectation of the imminent final coming of Christ, McLaren rejected Christ's final coming out of hand, Ron Golden said it was an image of being open to the kingdom coming now, and New Testament scholar Scott McKnight spoke of New Testament eschatology as "metaphorical rhetoric." This is pure liberalism gone wild, at an evangelical pastors' conference!

DE-PERSONALIZATION OF GOD

With all the emphasis on the earthly Jesus, on our human efforts to bring in the kingdom, and on "Human Flourishing," God as personal savior is vague, even absent. God was referred to in a large plenary session as "God revealing ‘godself,'" thus successfully avoiding any gender-specific language for God but successfully depersonalizing Him. The absence is filled by seeking God's "presence" through mysticism and so-called "spiritual disciplines," so widespread in impersonal pagan spirituality.

Both the bold-faced audacity but more, the naiveté of this project is quite stunning. There is no mention anywhere of the vastly superior pagan project, already well-developed, to construct a this-worldly socio-economic utopia, very similar to neo-evangelical's this-worldly "kingdom of God." Will this "shovel-ready eschatology" of human justice be digging the church's own grave? Will the two meet one day, and then, as Jesus asked (Luke 18:8), "Will the Son of Man, when he comes, find faith on the earth?" (Source) - emphasis added

Abandoned By God

This video spoke to me because I am one of those Christians who thinks homosexuality is between those involved to work out or not with the Father. I am not repulsed or offended by homosexuality or homosexual people (I rather like all those I know). That being said God's word is true and truth should not be suppressed. Our culture is treading towards Godlessness and that does matter to me. This video is just a reminder to those who know the Word of Truth that we are salt and light and should not be silent.

Who Will You Trust? God or The Government

wrote the article More Government, Less God: What the Obama Revolution Means for Religion in America. I think it validates some of the concerns that I have regarding PSBO's presidency so I have decided to re-print it here and you'll find my commentary in red:

In his successful drive for the presidency, Barack Obama went out of his way to cultivate churchgoing Americans. Obama spoke frankly and fluidly about his faith, he participated in Pastor Rick Warren’s candidates’ forum at the Saddleback megachurch, he reached out personally and persistently to evangelical and Catholic leaders, and his campaign targeted American religious groups like no other Democratic candidate for president has in recent times. Moreover, Obama and his campaign downplayed his socially liberal views, stressed his commitment to tolerance and civility toward those with whom he disagreed on social issues, and sought to underline the ways in which his progressive policy positions were consistent with biblical faith and Catholic Social Teaching.

Obama’s efforts paid off. In 2008, according to CNN exit polls, Obama won forty-three percent of the presidential vote among voters who attend religious services once a week or more, up from Senator John Kerry’s thirty-nine percent in 2004. Obama did especially well with Black and Latino believers. But he also made real inroads among traditional white Catholics, according to a recent article by John Green in First Things.

His cultivation of churchgoing Americans has not let up since winning the election. From his selection of Rick Warren to deliver his inaugural invocation to his public support for charitable choice to his recent remarks at the National Prayer Breakfast, President Obama has sought to signal to the faithful in America that his administration is no enemy to religion.

I do not doubt the sincerity of Obama’s religious intentions. But while many social conservatives have pointed a spotlight on Obama’s socially liberal policies (repealing the Mexico City Policy, for example) few have paid attention to the likely impact his stimulus, bailout, and economic welfare programs will have. One unremarked and unintended consequence of Barack Obama’s audacious plans for the expansion of government—especially in health care, education, and the environment—is that the nanny state he is seeking to build will likely crowd out religious institutions in America. In other words, if he succeeds in passing his ambitious agenda, the Obama revolution is likely to lead the United States down the secular path already trod by Europe. (I do, doubt PSBO's religious intentions that is)

To fund his bold efforts to revive the American economy and expand the welfare state, Obama is proposing to spend a staggering $3.6 trillion in the 2010 fiscal year. Obama’s revolutionary agenda would push federal, state, and local spending to approximately 40 percent of Gross Domestic Product, up from about 33 percent in 2000. It would also put the size of government in the United States within reach of Europe, where government spending currently makes up 46 percent of GDP.

Why is this significant for the vitality of religion in America? A recent study of 33 countries around the world by Anthony Gill and Erik Lundsgaarde, political scientists at the University of Washington, indicates that there is an inverse relationship between state welfare spending and religiosity. Specifically, they found that countries with larger welfare states had markedly lower levels of religious attendance, had higher rates of citizens indicating no religious affiliation whatsoever, and their people took less comfort in religion in general. In their words, “Countries with higher levels of per capita welfare have a proclivity for less religious participation and tend to have higher percentages of non-religious individuals.”

Gill and Lundsgaarde show, for instance, that Scandinavian societies such as Sweden and Denmark have some of the largest welfare states in the world as well as some of the lowest levels of religious attendance in the world. By contrast, countries with a history of limited government—from the United States to the Philippines—have markedly higher levels of religiosity. The link between religion and the welfare state remains robust even after Gill and Lundsgaarde control for socioeconomic factors such as urbanization, region, and literacy. The bottom line: as government grows, people’s reliance on God seems to diminish.

How do we account for the inverse relationship between government size and religious vitality? As Gill and Lundsgaarde point out, some individuals have strong spiritual needs that can only be met by religion. This portion of the population remains faithful, come what may. But other individuals only turn to churches, synagogues, temples, and mosques when their needs for social or material security are not being met by the market or state. In an environment characterized by ordinary levels of social or economic insecurity, many of these individuals will turn to local congregations for social, economic, and emotional support. At times of high insecurity, such as the current recession, religious demand goes even higher. Witness, for instance, press accounts chronicling the recent boom in churchgoing among Americans hit hard by the recession. Of course, many of those who initially turn to the church around the corner for instrumental reasons often end up developing an intrinsic appreciation for the spiritual and moral goods found in their local congregation.

By contrast, the more the state steps in to reduce the economic and social insecurity of its citizens, the less likely fair-weather believers are to darken the door of a church on Sunday. Now, to paraphrase Charles Krauthammer, Obama hopes to expand the size of the welfare state by offering cradle-to-grave health care and cradle-to-cubicle education to Americans. If he gets his way, Americans will not have to trust in God, or their fellow congregants, to support an ailing parent, or to help them figure out how to pay for their daughter’s college tuition. Instead, they can put their faith in Uncle Sam.

To secularists and religious skeptics, this may seem no great loss. Who cares if Americans substitute “In God We Trust” for “In Government We Trust”? But as political scientist Alan Wolfe observed in Whose Keeper?, one of the primary dangers associated with the rise of the nanny state is that “when government assumes moral responsibility for others, people are less likely to do so themselves.” Wolfe noted that large increases in welfare spending in Sweden, Denmark and Norway over the last half century have ended up eroding the moral fabric of families and civic institutions in these societies. Scandinavians have come to depend not on family, civil society, or themselves, but on the government for their basic needs. (Mission accomplish for the godless liberal elitist)

The problem with this Scandinavian-style welfare dependency is that many Scandinavians, especially young adults who have grown up taking the welfare state for granted, are markedly less likely to attend to the social, material, and emotional needs of family and friends than earlier generations. As a consequence, social solidarity is down and social pathology—from drinking to crime—is up. In Wolfe’s words, “High tax rates in Scandinavia encourage governmental responsibility for others; they do not, however, necessarily inspire a personal sense of altruism and a feeling of moral unity toward others with whom one’s fate is always linked.” Not surprisingly, cheating on taxes is on the rise in Scandinavian countries, both because the social solidarity undergirding these societies is fraying and because men and women—especially high earners—are recoiling from paying the hefty taxes associated with keeping their nanny states afloat (sound familiar?). (Yes, very familiar unfortunately. Social pathology will abound)

The dangers that Wolfe identifies in societies like Sweden would likely be even more salient in America, which has a much lower level of cultural homogeneity and collectivism than the Scandinavian nations. In the United States, as Alexis de Tocqueville observed, religious institutions have long provided crucial social and moral ballast to the individualistic ethos of our nation. For instance, as political scientist Arthur Brooks pointed out in his recent book, Who Really Cares, religious Americans are significantly more likely to give to charity and to volunteer their time than are secularists. In 2000, he found, for instance, that ninety-one percent of regular churchgoers (those who attend religious services nearly every week or more frequently) gave money to charities, compared to sixty-six percent of secularists (those who attend religious services a couple times a year or not at all); moreover, sixty-seven percent of churchgoers volunteered, compared to forty-four percent of secularists. (Hmm, I guess Joe Biden and the Obamas fit into this category see as how their charitable giving is dismally low)
This is why, even though Obama’s audacious agenda might provide short-term relief to the economic and social challenges that now beset us, over the long term the Obama revolution is likely to erode first the religious and then the civic and moral fabric of the nation. Undoubtedly, this is not the change religious believers who put their faith in Obama last November are hoping for from this president. But if the European experiment with the welfare state tells us anything, it tells us that this is the change we can expect from a successful Obama revolution. (Source)

Today's Baal Worshipers

I read the following article written by Matt Barber on WorldNetDaily last night. I think it's brilliant so I have reprinted it below:

Modern-day liberals – or "progressives" as they more discreetly prefer – labor under an awkward misconception; namely, that there is anything remotely "progressive" about the fundamental canons of their blind, secular-humanist faith. In fact, today's liberalism is largely a sanitized retread of an antiquated mythology – one that significantly predates the only truly progressive movement: biblical Christianity.

While visiting the Rivermont Evangelical Presbyterian Church in Lynchburg, Va., a few weeks back, I heard a troubling, albeit thought-provoking, sermon. Pastor John Mabray addressed the ancient Canaanite practice of Baal worship and, though he didn't reveal it by name, connected the dots to its present-day progeny: liberalism. Baal, the half-bull, half-man god of fertility, was the focal point of pagan idolatry in Semitic Israel until God revealed His monotheistic nature to Judaism's forebears.

In his sermon, Pastor Mabray illustrated that, although they've now assumed a more contemporary flair, the fundamentals of Baal worship remain alive and well today. The principal pillars of Baalism were child sacrifice, sexual immorality (both heterosexual and homosexual) and pantheism (reverence of creation over the Creator).

Ritualistic Baal worship, in sum, looked a little like this: Adults would gather around the altar of Baal. Infants would then be burned alive as a sacrificial offering to the deity. Amid horrific screams and the stench of charred human flesh, congregants – men and women alike – would engage in bisexual orgies. The ritual of convenience was intended to produce economic prosperity by prompting Baal to bring rain for the fertility of "mother earth."
The natural consequences of such behavior – pregnancy and childbirth – and the associated financial burdens of "unplanned parenthood" were easily offset. One could either choose to engage in homosexual conduct or – with child sacrifice available on demand – could simply take part in another fertility ceremony to "terminate" the unwanted child.

Modern liberalism deviates little from its ancient predecessor. While its macabre rituals have been sanitized with flowery and euphemistic terms of art, its core tenets and practices remain eerily similar. The worship of "fertility" has been replaced with worship of "reproductive freedom" or "choice." Child sacrifice via burnt offering has been updated, ever so slightly, to become child sacrifice by way of abortion. The ritualistic promotion, practice and celebration of both heterosexual and homosexual immorality and promiscuity have been carefully whitewashed – yet wholeheartedly embraced – by the cults of radical feminism, militant "gay rights" and "comprehensive sex education." And, the pantheistic worship of "mother earth" has been substituted – in name only – for radical environmentalism.

But it's not just self-styled "progressives" or secular humanists who have adopted the fundamental pillars of Baalism. In these postmodern times, we've also been graced, regrettably, by the advent of counter-biblical "emergent Christianity" or "quasi-Christianity," as I prefer to call it. This is merely liberalism all dolled up and gratuitously stamped "Christian." It's a way for left-wing ideologues to have their "religion" cake and eat it too. Under the guise of "social justice," its adherents often support – or at least rationalize – the same pro-homosexual, pro-abortion and radical environmental policies pushed by the modern-day Baal worshiper.
Though the "Christian left" represent what is arguably a negligible minority within larger Christianity, the liberal media have, nonetheless, embraced their cause and seized upon their popularity among elites as evidence that the so-called "Christian right" (read: biblical Christianity) is losing influence – that Christianity is, somehow, "catching up with the times."
Because emergent Christianity fails the authenticity test whenever subjected to even the most perfunctory biblical scrutiny, I suspect it will eventually go – for the most part – the way of the pet rock or the Macarena. But this does not absolve leaders within the evangelical community from a duty to call leaders of this counter-biblical revolution on their heresy. It's not a matter of right versus left; it's a matter of right versus wrong – of biblical versus non-biblical.

Nonetheless, the aforementioned pillars of postmodern Baalism – abortion, sexual relativism and radical environmentalism – will almost certainly make rapid headway over the next four to eight years, with or without help from the Christian left. The gods of liberalism have a new high priest in Barack Obama, and enjoy many devout followers in the Democratic-controlled Congress, liberal media and halls of academia.

Both Obama's social agenda and that of the 111th Congress are rife with unfettered pro-abortion, freedom-chilling, pro-homosexual and power-grabbing environmentalist objectives. The same kind of "hope, action and change," I suppose, that was swallowed up by the Baalist Canaanites of old.

So, today's liberalism is really just a very old book with a shiny new cover. A philosophy rooted in ancient pagan traditions, of which there is naught to be proud.

There's "nothing new under the sun," indeed.

Cultural Marxist and The Cultural Christians Who Support Them

Mini-me and I have been very engaged over the last week in conversations about socialism vs. capitalism. BrotherKomrade and JMK's ongoing tread in a previous post have given us much food for thought. So, in my quest to understand exactly what is missing in my understanding of Socialism. I have concluded that perhaps it is a stretch to label PSBO a "socialist"-- I think he is a "Cultural Socialist" meaning not a socialist in is purest sense of the word.

I have stated many times before that my faith effects my worldview and I have begun to wonder why this isn't the case for all persons of faith. I believe that many professed Christians have a said faith only and not a deep abiding faith and are therefore "cultural Christians". I just can't think of any other reason that people can lay their faith down when it comes to social issues and voting on social policy. I mean, isn't that the point of your faith? To bring light to the world. To be the salt of the earth? I read a compelling article this morning by Brannon Howse which I have reprinted here because I think it speaks to some of the concerns that people of faith should have with PSBO and his administration.

Obama's economic advisor Robert Reich, who served as labor secretary under President Clinton, testified before the House Steering and Policy Committee Jan. 7, 2009, on federal funding of infrastructure projects throughout the nation.

Reich said:

"It seems to me that infrastructure spending is a very important and good way of stimulating the economy. The challenge will be to do it quickly, to find projects that can be done that will have a high social return that also can be done with the greatest speed possible. I am concerned, as I'm sure many of you are, that these jobs not simply go to high skilled people who are already professionals or to white male construction workers. I have nothing against white male construction workers I'm just saying there are a lot of other people who have needs as well. There are ways in which the money can be, criteria can be set so the money does go to others, the long term unemployed, minorities, women."

Can you imagine what the media and cultural elite would say if the agenda was to only give federal contracts for infrastructure to whites and NOT minorities and women? The last two groups that can be discriminated against in America without consequences are Christians and white males. If you happen to be both a Christian and a white male then you are really a target in today's politically correct culture. (I know some are going to question why I should be concerned about white christian males. So let me just say that my concern is that we are taking "political correctness" too far -- i.e. It's politically incorrect to say Merry Christmas - CBW)

I am proud of the fact that we have made much progress in race relations in America and the election of President Obama is proof of this. We have room for improvement but the Obama Administration is seeking to divide not unite. Act 17:29, says we are of one blood and there is only one race, not multiple races. There are many people groups but there is only one race; the human race.


The Cultural Marxists will continue to use their social justice programs to divide Americans into victimized groups for their own political agenda.

I predict that one group that will be employed by the federal tax dollars that were paid in by the hated "white, high skilled people who are already professionals" and the "white male construction workers" will be illegal aliens.

I predict the Obama Administration will not only give illegal aliens high paying jobs through this federal infrastructure program, but also citizenship. With citizenship comes the right to vote and thereby securing election after election for the Cultural Marxists.

Responding to the testimony of Robert Reich, was U.S. Representative Charles Rangel, D-N.Y. Rangel had no problem with what Reich was proposing. In fact, Rangel wants to implement even more federal dictates to the states. Rangel said the federal government, must "remove the discretion" about where the money would be spent and how it would be spent. Governors and legislatures would have no say on how the money will be spent. Reich agreed and said, "Governors ought to be, should be given a choice of signing on the bottom line or not."

Now hold on to your hat. Rangel said when the "middle class" hears about their plan; the middle class will do nothing. Rangel said:

"One thing that you can depend on, you don't have to be worried about what the middle class is going to do. Things are so bad, they have to put food on their tables, get clothes for their kids, get them in school."

The more I read, hear, and research, the more I am willing to believe this financial crisis which was mostly birthed in the Clinton Administration and continued by the George W. Bush Administration, was possibly orchestrated in order to destroy the middle class and implement radical, extreme socialism.

Who is the largest employer in America? The answer is small business. Who runs small businesses? The middle class largely run small businesses in America. Who supports pro-family, pro-life organizations like Worldview Weekend, The American Family Association, Focus on the Family and other groups that oppose the humanistic, global governance worldview of the cultural elite? Who is the most politically active for faith, family and freedoms? Who funds Christian radio, missions, and the spread of the Gospel? What group of Americans most understands history, has served in the military, and is opposed to socialism? What group makes up the largest members of the Reagan Revolution? The answer to all these questions is the middle class.

The social engineers know that if the middle class is consumed with food, shelter, clothing and employment; and paying taxes, most will not even notice what is happening in the area of public policy. Those that do see what is happening will not be able to do anything about it because as Rangel said, they are overwhelmed with the basics of life.

Barack Obama's White House Chief of Staff, Rahm, Emanuel told business leaders in a November 2008 meeting that the financial crisis was "an opportunity to do things you could not do before."

The goals of Cultural Marxism are primarily the destruction of Christianity and the creation of chaos. The ultimate goal is to move from Cultural Marxism to traditional Marxism and that is what is happening to America today. Obama, the Clintons, Rangel, Reich, Emanuel and Obama's entire Administration is committed to moving from Cultural Marxism to traditional Marxism. To get there they must destroy and distract their only real obstacle…the middle class. (Source - emphasis added)

So my beef is more with "cultural Christians" than "cultural Marxist" in that I am persuaded that what is happening in America is an attempt to destroy Christianity. So if cultural Marxist are primarily concerned with destroying Christianity then cultural Christians are allowing it to happen because they are so filled with adoration and reverence for Barack Obama that they do not realize that their values are being assaulted.

God Doesn't Need The State, The State Needs God

God doesn't need America's money to establish His Kingdom. Ministries would do well to reject federal dollars and even perhaps the 501(c) classification because PSBO's "Faith Based" initiatives are too costly. The banks took a bail-out and now the have to answer to congress. Why would ministries put themselves in that position?
