The Sickening Satisfaction Of The Victim Status

I wrote the following in response to an incredibly dumb comment left by a troll in a previous thread:

"Black America by and large has no interest in truth, only the sick satisfaction derived from grievance politics."

(Here is the obligatory caveat -- I'm not talking about every Black American. Just the racism chasers, Obama supporters, and mindless drones.)

But I sincerely hope that I'm proven wrong.

I really appreciate your posts and thank you for the clip from Alfonzo Rachael on PJTV.

Sadly, I think the victim mentality is color blind. It has become a major part of our American culture as whole. I can remember "victim" signals throughout my childhood and beyond for that matter. I can recall times when I should have been allowed to feel the full sting of my poor choices rather than being protected or coddled from consequences.

If certain lessons had been learned earlier I am sure I could have been spared a great deal of heartache in my 20's. Nonetheless I have learned that my failures are probably my best teachers and catalysts to refined character.

Victim mentality can be seen in the news in many ways, even toward criminals. Instead of holding law breakers accountable for the wrongs they commit, it seems our society is now more fascinated in discovering what or who in the criminal's past influenced their decision to break or disregard laws.

What we are up against now with the current administration and slant of the media is something I have not seen or imagined would take place.

At first I was afraid to voice my observations, for the obvious reason of wanting to avoid being labeled a racist. No more. I am stepping out of my comfort zone because liberty, freedom of speech, morality, freedom in general are all more important than any hesitation I had.

Silence no more! Liberty needs the volume turned up!

Thank you for your posts. It was a rough week this week as I logged off of FB...me...a conservative white woman. I needed a good laugh. I enjoyed the video. In the past, I lost so called white friends for having black friends and the friends I had who were black had pressure to not be my friend because I am white.

On FB I could not delete the highlight section of a college student friend in the UK who wanted to show her freedom of speech on bisexuals and a chart of a v..... But when I posted a You Tube of Michelle Bachmann...her mom commented.."Gross"...to which my cousin commented "Flower Girl." The message to me is don't be a successful conservative woman, black or white and do not be a successful white conservative man or you are a bigot and do not ever be a black conservative male. I cannot believe the pressure and the hatred.
I remember Martin Luther King, Jr and the history of Frederick Douglas. I have a hard time believing the would ever support some of the hatred I see now. God help us all! Love your posts! Thank you so very, very much!

"The "Victim" card is well used and well worn by more than just Black people. Hell, to be candid, I've seen just as many Whites fall into this catagory as any other groups." (MistaO)

Victimology has been woven into the predominant culture of America, with profoundly negative effects all around.

Actually that's NOT a good example of white's embracing victmology. Opposing segregation (Jim Crow a few decades back and AA's segregated standards today are noble stands)....white's embracing victimology is seen in the hyper-litigious society we have today....people looking to sue first, instead of looking to work things out with their neighbors.

That kind of victimology has become a cancer in America.

Speaking of litigation, Miss USA pageant tries to make itself look like the victim in how it treats Carrie Prejean:

Hi, I saw the Alfonzo clip too. Good stuff. Your blog is really good stuff and action packed.

I don't know how to beat racism. I wonder if it ever will be. I try to understand where it comes from and believe it or not, (like some German friends of mine who are embarrassed about Nazism), I've always felt embarrassed from it and being white.

But I prefer not to feel like that, and I've always tried not to feel prejudice. I do admit though, sometimes and somethings make it hard...and not just between black and white.

I think I respect your thinking Ms CBW. I'm sure you're slammed with every day life (like we all are), but if you have time, would you please check out my post on Racism, Why? What is it? And tell me your thoughts? I'm really looking for honest answers and not just being blasted by white or black people.

I'm trying to figure things out and care about my fellow Americans, and hope they care about me. Because our country as a whole has alot worse things to be submerged in. Thanks! Good Bloggen! God Bless.

The problem with this is white people of your ilk did NOT oppose segregation adn are pissed off to this very day about Civil Rights legislation.

You're also angry about AA which is little more than a widening of the net in hiring practices and have portrayed this very modest program as a "war on white men."

BTW discrimination against people of color in hiring and promotion is still alive and well in America but every complaint against these practices are referred to as "victimhood" by the JMK's of the world.

I grew up in the North (NYC to be exact), we NEVER had segregation.

Civil Rights are merely INDIVIDUAL rights. There are no such thing as a "group right."

As such, I support INDIVIDUAL rights (a/k/a/ Civil Rights" such as "equality before the law," and "Equality of opportunity" - the right to be judged on the SAME standards, to take the same test, NOT "equality of outcome."

Separate (segregated standards) such as a 70% passing mark for whites and Asians, a 65% for Hispanics and a 60% passing mark for blacks is NOT "widening the net," Nor is the kind dishonest campaign recently wage against the New Haven FD's Lieutenants and Captains tests. "Disparate impact is NOT "proof of discrimination" of any kind.

Jennifer @ Conservative Blog-unclogged,

You hit the nail on the head.

We are on the path of coddling ourselves to oblivion and those who fear accepting responsibility for themselves are the loudest protesters.
Victims tend to use race as a cover regardless of their pigmentation.

"Luck" is when preparation meets opportunity.....as such it should not be legislated out of guilt.

You speak the truth. There's two types of people in this country. Those that are "about something" and those that "aren't about something". And using the word "soemthing" for another word that starrs with the lettr "S", if you catch my drift. Many of us in the Black commuinity, and the Latino as well never want to admit to self-inflicted wounds, kids being born of of wedleck, dropping out of school, then when life gets rough, wonders how they got there.

It's nice to know that there are others like me, person of color, that feel the samew way I do.

You have a great blog!

Check mine out sometime.
