"I Am Responsible. The Buck Stops With Me"

PSBO's teleprompter prompted him to say last night "I am responsible. The buck stops with me" and CNN's Roland Martin said this morning on The Tom Joyner Morning Show (I have no choice as a morning drive passenger) finds a way to impune the Bush Administration by saying and I'm paraphrasing....President Bush and Cheney would never have been classy or noble enough to admit culpability." Incredible!!!

I also learned this morning from the TJMS that PSBO acolytes are on a mission to correct anyone who doesn't show appropriate "respect" for him by calling him President Obama whenever referring to him. Apparently, it is an act of racism if a white person doesn't say President Barack Obama every single time they utter his name and if a person of color neglects to do so well then it's extreme insolence and needs to be nipped immediately. I wish people who perpetuate this type of bull crap would show more care not to expose the smallness of their minds and concentrate on the multiplicity of substantive issues as they pertain to President Barack Obama.

Yeah, like Conservatives who need to stop trying to prove President Obama was not born in the USA, or that he is a descendent of Joseph Stalin, or hopeing that he should "fail"...etc., etc., maybe you righties can practice what you preach...for once...

If I live to be 100 years old I'll never understand black people ready to throw themselves under a bus for white racists and then turn around viciously attack THEIR OWN PEOPLE.

Now CBW, surprise me with a speech about how God and ideology come before race with you.

If you moved next door to Sean Hannity, he'd be the first one throwing rocks through your window.

UTS~God certainly does and I am completely unapologetic about. I care about how HE perceives me. I'm not sure why you would be surprised you know where I stand on that.

DJBA~What you fail to understand is that I agree with you about "extremes" on both ends of the political spectrum. But this "make sure you say President" issue is just trivial!

Again, whether or not Hannity, Rush, Beck, are racist...Well, I guess I will never know unless they say something racist but unlike you guys I don't assume that all white conservatives are racist....sorry. Sorry for wanting black folks to think critically about an issue other than racism because it doesn't serve us well and it just pitiable that grown ups are so consumed with something as dumb as semantics regarding PresidentObama.

I noticed that the mainstream media referred to President Bush as "Mr. Bush" quite a bit. I found it annoying and they've continued it with President Obama as far as I can tell.

I don't think it matters in casual conversation, since people will probably just refer to his last name to keep it short, but supposed professionals should say "President" rather than "Mr." It's unprofessional not to.

I'm sure Obama's followers always said "President" when they referred to Bush. Man I love hypocrisy.

Conservative Black Woman said...

UTS~I'm not sure I have ever even called YOU racist. However, I try and crucify my flesh and bring my thoughts under the subjection. Now I will concede the you may have been called that on this forum but not from me (except perhaps the time I called you everything except a child of God when I first met you). Actually what you are saying isn't true because I told you about my experience with the unapologetic racist Hal Turner...HAL TURNER IS A RACIST. I think the protocol is: In an article, news piece or cnversation, first reference is President Obama then you can simply say Obama or President for the rest of the article. When addressing the president directly, it's Mr. President or Mr. Obama. Often people who overlook major things will be sticklers for minor trifles. The "Mr." , "Mrs." thing is sensitive because Old South Dems refused to address blacks as Mr. or Mrs. as a symbol of disrespect.

You must place all of this into perspective. Barack Obama's present willingness to say "My Bad" AS WELL AS the motions of "openness in government" per his decisions to release certain Bush memos and purported to be willing to do the same with his own.......

ONLY shows that AT PRESENT....Barack Obama DOESN'T HAVE MUCH ON HIS PLATE where people would ATTACK HIM for the purposes of SINKING HIM!!!!

Thus CBW - don't judge Obama by HIS notation of how he "screwed up".

Instead you must wait a few years until INVESTIGATIVE REPORTERS and/or CONGRESSIONAL OVERSIGHT find some things that the Administration was not above board on.

THEN and only then can we make a fair judgment on Obama's will to take ownership of a matter.

After all Bush accepted the blame for the problems with the Hurricane Katrina response several weeks after he was receiving sustained attacks. Thus there is a key difference between saying the words and dodging the torpedoes and buckshots that are coming your way from people seeking to sink your ship.

The "You can't hit a guy with glasses" strategy is a very effective one.

Using the fact that Barack Obama is Black and thus is off limits for attack lest THE ATTACK BE A RACIST or an UNCLE TOM is nothing more than an attempt by some to ramrod their agenda through unchallenged.

The NAACP has mastered this tactic in recent years. They portray themselves as the "Red Cross" on the battle field. Though indeed they be on the field of battle...the markings on their helmet show that they are medics rather than fighters. It is only when you pay close attention that you see that below their helmet is the UNIFORM OF THE DEMOCRATS and that they pick up a grenade launcher, fire their shot and then throw it to the ground. Upon return fire - they claim once again....."you can't hit a guy with glasses".....or YOU ARE A HATE FILLED RACIST.

I say that we should inspect the hands of the NAACP and other BQPFRC organizations for GUN POWDER RESIDUE.

You are too correct with your notation that the vile elements of the left had no barriers set against them with respect to evil Bush.

Ironically there is a bit of "non-White White Supremacy" in the acts of the bigoted Blacks who operate in this mode. You see the fact that George W Bush was called a monkey was of no consequence for HE IS A WHITE MAN. When some operative Blacks saw a cartoon that even made the slightest inference to Barack Obama - the Black guy in charge.....these same Black inferiorists were able to stitch ideas together in their mind and they saw the figurative image of Barack Obama laying on the ground as the massacred chimp.

One has to make note of the perversion of how the attributes of a monkey only stuck to the Black guy - IN THEIR MINDS.

It is important to thus consider THEIR MINDS and how it functions.

And Hannity doesn't have to SAY anything overtly racist.

He goes the passive-aggressive route like providing a forum for white supremacist Hal Turner.

Or his regular guest that repulsive lawn jockey Jesse Lee Peterson who spews garbage like "most black men are weak", "why are black women so mean" "most blacks are racist" and then Hannity can feign shock and surprise all the while snickering.

Being called a “racist” by a confirmed bigot like yourself is a badge of honor UTS.

There IS, without question some residual racial bigotry (“racism”) still alive in America today, but increasingly it looks like this;

Elect a crazy council, get crazy results

Nolan Finley

http://www.detnews.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20090301/OPINION03/903010308/1008/OPINION01

My hopes for Detroit's future faded as I watched the tape of last Tuesday's council meeting, the one that considered the Cobo Center expansion deal.

It was a tragic circus, a festival of ignorance that confirmed the No. 1 obstacle to Detroit's progress is the bargain basement leaders that city voters elect. The black nationalism that is now the dominant ideology of the council was on proud display, both at the table and in the audience.

Speakers advocating for the deal were taunted by the crowd and cut short by Council President Monica Conyers, who presided over the hearing like an angry bulldog; whites were advised by the citizens to, "Go home."

Opponents were allowed to rant and ramble on uninterrupted about "those people" who want to steal Detroit's assets and profit from the city's labors.

A pitiful Teamster official who practically crawled to the table on his knees expressing profuse respect for this disrespectful body was battered by both the crowd and the council.

When he dared suggest that an improved Cobo Center would create more good-paying jobs for union workers, Conyers reminded him, "Those workers look like you; they don't look like me."

Desperate, he invoked President Barack Obama's message of unity and was angrily warned, "Don't you say his name here."

Juxtapose the place and the faces and imagine a white Livonia City Council treating a black union representative with such overt racial hostility. The Justice Department would swoop down like a hawk, and the Rev. Al Sharpton would clog Five Mile Road with protesters.

But in Detroit, dealing with the council's bigotry is part of the cost of doing business. As is dealing with its incompetence. (I'll pause here and excuse from that indictment Sheila Cockrel and Brenda Jones, who supported the Cobo deal, as did Kwame Kenyatta, who although he's an avowed nationalist, most often votes in the city's best interests.)

A video of a meeting on the Kobo Convention Center is here:

http://apps.detnews.com/apps/multimedia/player/index.php?id=3223

See minutes 12 thru 16:40 for the exchange between Monica Conyers and the teamsters Union leader

So, it seems that Detroit’s City Council has sunk to the level of the American South circa 1940s.

BUT that is not an isolated incident;

“Ike Brown is a legend in Mississippi politics, a fast-talking operative both loved and hated for his ability to turn out black voters and get his candidates into office.

That success has also landed him at the heart of a federal lawsuit that’s about to turn the Voting Rights Act on its head.

For the first time, the Justice Department is using the 1965 law to allege racial discrimination against whites.

Brown, head of the Democratic Party in Mississippi’s rural Noxubee County, is accused of waging a campaign to defeat white voters and candidates with tactics including intimidation and coercion. Also named in the lawsuit is Circuit Clerk Carl Mickens, who has agreed to refrain from rejecting white voters’ absentee ballots considered defective while accepting similar ballots from black voters.

I just finished re-watching The Pursuit of Happyness the Chris Gardner story about a guy who’d made a bad investment in a high definition bone density scanner that offered a slightly better picture than an X-Ray at twice the price and failed, losing his wife and winding up homeless with a young son and how he came to overcome all that by both shear personal effort and a positive, grateful attitude, which is what really seems to be the key to HAPPINESS.

Gratitude.

Gratitude for another day, since not a minute’s time is promised to any of us.

Gratitude for any opportunity, since you can’t see or take advantage of an opportunity you don’t appreciate and are grateful for.

In Gardner’s case, he showed up at his initial interview straight from jail for a scofflaw violation, dressed, as he was the night before when he was painting his apartment.

Through his charm and the vouching for him by a white stock broker who’d recommended him, he was given a spot in the competitive internship program.

He excelled in that program and was judged fairly by those same white executives and given a position at Dean Whitter. Apparently THEY, like he, held on to no racial animus or distrust and both took opportunities where they found it – they seeing a highly skilled and motivated worker in him and he seeing a golden opportunity for himself with that firm.

Gardner’s story is one of millions of such examples of how the market-based economy affords more opportunities to more people, at least those grateful for and appreciative of opportunities and willing to express that gratitude in effort.

It’s certainly far different in today’s sub-Saharan African, where they’re still burning witches. Apparently sub-Saharan Africa has now progressed to about the level of the U.S. circa 1640!

You’re going to have to try a lot harder than quoting the Daily Kos, BK.

The Daily Kos is a hate sit that allows unfiltered content by a host of unhinged and emotionally disturbed contributors.

In the article referenced, there isn’t any proof offered of any personal link between Hal Turner and Sean Hannity.

Hal Turner claims that he’d sell some alleged tapes he has of some “friendly/cordial on and off-air conversations” he’s had with Sean Hannity. He initially offered them for $100,000, now it’s $250,000.

No takers? Apparently not.

Almost certainly because there’s nothing of substance there.

Sean Hannity has had “friendly/cordial” on and off-air conversations with the likes of Quannel-X and the late Khalid Mohammed, but Hannity certainly doesn’t seem to endorse the views of the New Black Panther Party nor the vile NOI, any more than he’s endorsed the views of Hal Turner.

Moreover, Hal Turner’s inciteful and hate-filled speech is PROTECTED SPEECH, protected by the SAME First Amendment that protects the inciteful and hate-filled speech of the likes of Quannel-X and other hate-mongers.

It kinds goes like this, in America, people like UTS are free to embrace and espouse their own race-hatred, they are NOT allowed to act on it – to discriminate, assault or otherwise act on those views. Those ACTS, unlike that speech are NOT PROTECTED and are punishable as criminal acts.

No one is going to make the argument that “Turner’s hate is criminal, while Quannel-X’s hate is OK,” you can bank on that.

Look, I'm trying hard (VERY hard) to ignore the straight up racial bigotry inherant in that remark), FACT is Quannel-X's and the NOI's racial hatred is even LESS legitimate (ie. rationalized by historical context) and MORE of a problem than Hal Turner's, because "minority bigotry against a majority" (like what went on in pre-apartheid South Africa) is LESS sustainable amd MORE incendiary than the reverse.

In short, overt black bigotry invites a hideous backlash that I'm certain none of us here want to see.

Please, PLEASE refrain from defending an overt black racial bigotry that is both unsustainable and self-destructive, as that's completely unworthy of rational thought, let alone "an elite viewpoint."

<

There you go, making a hideously erroneous assumption.

What percentage of pre-Civil War Northern whites owned slaves?

Answer 0%

What percentage of pre-Civil War Southerners owned slaves?

Answer appx 5%

There were free blacks since the late 18th Century and enslaved whites.

Moreover, many whites (such as myself) had ancestors who came over right around the time of the Civil War and "stepped off the boat and into a war to end someone else's bondage."

Me, an oppressor?

OPPRESSOR my ass!

My ancestors fought and died in a war that benefited others, a war they really had no truck in. 82% of the Union's Forces were of Irish descent.

In the South, the great General Longstreet said it best, "We should've freed the slaves and THEN fired on Fort Sumpter", for to them, they were fighting AGAINST "Northern aggression" and AGAINST "the encroachment of the centralized state (federalism)."

So how many of those Southerners were "oppressors"?

Apparenly about 5%!

How many of those white Northerners?

About 0%....In FACT, those folks and their descendants are owed a GREAT debt.

That's probably why there were so many black Confederates.

"It has been estimated that over 65,000 Southern blacks were in the Confederate ranks. Over 13,000 of these, "saw the elephant" also known as meeting the enemy in combat. These Black Confederates included both slave and free. The Confederate Congress did not approve blacks to be officially enlisted as soldiers (except as musicians), until late in the war. But in the ranks it was a different story. Many Confederate officers did not obey the mandates of politicians, they frequently enlisted blacks with the simple criteria, "Will you fight?" Historian Ervin Jordan, explains that "biracial units" were frequently organized "by local Confederate and State militia Commanders in response to immediate threats in the form of Union raids". Dr. Leonard Haynes, an African-American professor at Southern University, stated, "When you eliminate the black Confederate soldier, you've eliminated the history of the South."

http://www.37thtexas.org/html/BlkHist.html

"DURING OUR WAR OF 1861, ex-slave Frederick Douglass observed, "There are at the present moment, many colored men in the Confederate Army doing duty not only as cooks, servants and laborers, but as real soldiers, having muskets on their shoulders and bullets in their pockets, ready to shoot down ... and do all that soldiers may do to destroy the Federal government."

"Dr. Lewis Steiner, a Union Sanitary Commission employee who lived through the Confederate occupation of Frederick, Maryland said, "Most of the Negroes...were manifestly an integral portion of the Southern Confederacy Army." Erwin L. Jordan's book "Black Confederates and Afro-Yankees in Civil War Virginia" cites eyewitness accounts of the Antietam campaign of "armed blacks in rebel columns bearing rifles, sabers, and knives and carrying knapsacks and haversacks." After the Battle of Seven Pines in June 1862, Union soldiers said that "two black Confederate regiments not only fought but showed no mercy to the Yankee dead or wounded whom they mutilated, murdered and robbed."

"In April 1861, a Petersburg, Virginia newspaper proposed "three cheers for the patriotic free Negroes of Lynchburg" after 70 blacks offered "to act in whatever capacity may be assigned to them" in defense of Virginia. Erwin L. Jordan cites one case where a captured group of white slave owners and blacks were offered freedom if they would take an oath of allegiance to the United States."

http://www.jewishworldreview.com/cols/williams012600.asp

So this idea that, by extension, "all whites are oppressors" is merely a convenient excuse for the worst kind of racial bigotry, akin to that Hitler employed to stir up anti-Jewish sentiments.

Race-based PREFERENCES, like separate and unequal passing grades for blacks and whites on various Civil Service Exams, government mandated quotas and set-asides ARE NOT and were NOT "part of the Civil Rights movement."

They were drafted in 1970 under then President Richard M Nixon another Republican Keynesian (like Herbert Hoover before him and George Bush Sr. AND Jr,after him)...and those kinds of racially discriminatory programs are as vile and anti-American as Jim Crow laws were.

No, I think it's you who may be mis-educated on some subjects...not your fault - we all were.

DJ Black Adam said...

@JMK:

Your presumption knows no bounds it appears.

I'll excuse your ignorance, I realize now that you aren't trying to be antagonistic, you just don't know better.

It wasn't about who "owned" slaves, it was about the premise of white privilage and supremacy (and by mutual implication Black inferiority), which most whites, even some abolishonist bought into.

Further, gov. quotas and the like WERE a consequence of the civil rights movement and equal hiring laws. I agree, such programs were not helpful, but sorry, 400 years of White Supremacy and White Privilage and you all want to trip about maybe a few thousand jobs over the last 30+ years? Sorry, you gets no sympathy for me on that.

I can agree that forced quota programs aren't the ticket, THAT we can discuss, BUT don't try to submit that b/s, its a serious false equivalence.
