It's Not What They Call You It's What You Answer To...

I think that I have offended some of my readers for referring to black democrats as "Plantation Negroes" and accused them of being steeped in ignorance and/or victimology (I made this word up) . Let me be clear, if that description does not apply to you then I'm not talking about you. I am talking about black people who pledge blind allegiance to a party knowing nothing about the racist history of that party and who believe that the democratic party is somehow a party that cares about the needs of black folk. So, if you are not pledging blind allegiance and you are firmly footed in the democratic party because you have made an informed decision then why, pray tell are you angry with me?

I am called a self-hating, uncle tom, uppity Negress (although I like that one and may start another blog with that title) bougie, white acting b**tch on the daily. These names roll off my back because I absolutely adore myself and my people. I just detest willful ignorance in any color. But it's just like our parents used to tell us when we were called names by our peers... "It ain't what they call you -- it's what you answer to." I must scurry along now as I need to reserve that blog. I will answer to uppity negress-- Martin Luther King was called uppity you know. Hell they call Barack and Michelle uppity so I'm in pretty good company.

P.S The Uppity Negress has been birthed. You can check her out at http://theuppitynegress.blogspot.com/

Victimology is a real word to me, at least I've used for a long time...and it's not merely blacks who wallow in this.

Thanks to our hyper-litigious society we've both embraced and rewarded those who wallow in victimization.

Tens of thousands of Americans are scamming SSI with things like "bad backs" and "anxiety disorders," while thousands of severely wounded (many amputees) are back and working.

We are a nation with far too many scammers and "get-overs" who're dragging the producers down like an anchor.

On that score, NEITHER PArty has done much to address that all too obvious problem.

The last national figure to deal with anything like that was the GREAT Newt Gingrich, who forced a reluctant Clinton administration to adopt massive welfare reform.

A MISSING PHRASE: "Tens of thousands of Americans are scamming SSI with things like "bad backs" and "anxiety disorders," while thousands of severely wounded (many amputees) U.S. soldiers are back and working."

I'm a Black Democrat. I'll always be a Dem. (but won't limit my support to them). The thing that hooked me Kennedey's "Ask not..." speech. It seems as though my party has moved away from those ideals.

UBJ~You get my point I think, I'm betting that you were not offended by my comments because you are a democrat based on an informed decision not blind allegiance. If something doesn't apply to you, why give it a second thought?

JMK~ On point as always.

Ronald Reagan was a "JFK-Democrat too, UBJ.

And he's famous for saying, "I didn't leave the Democratic Party, the Democratic Party left me!"

I remain a registered Democrat. I call myself a "Zell Miller Democrat." I haven't been able to vote for a Democrat for national office since I began voting...quite awhile back.

I COULD vote for Dems like Webb in VA, or Harold Ford in TN (pro-gun, pro-business, low tax, etc), but I can't vote for far-Left Liberals, like Nancy Pelosi, Barney Frank, Ted Kennedy or Barack Obama.

Those folks are all far to the Left of even the somewhat Liberal Democratic Party.

I just have one comment, what are you doing to change anything? It is said that when you change the way you look at things the things you look at change. If you don't like the things you see happening in the Black community then do something to help change the things you see that you don't like, but before you go running into the hood with your self-righteousness, take a little time to read something about the history of your people, in fact, I'm gong to come right back at you with something that I think you need to see.

Willie Lynch letter: The Making of a Slave
By FinalCall.com News
Updated May 22, 2009 - 12:45:37 PM

This speech was delivered by Willie Lynch on the bank of the James River in the colony of Virginia in 1712. Lynch was a British slave owner in the West Indies. He was invited to the colony of Virginia in 1712 to teach his methods to slave owners there. The term “lynching” is derived from his last name.

[beginning of the Willie Lynch Letter]

Greetings,

Gentlemen. I greet you here on the bank of the James River in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and twelve. First, I shall thank you, the gentlemen of the Colony of Virginia, for bringing me here. I am here to help you solve some of your problems with slaves. Your invitation reached me on my modest plantation in the West Indies, where I have experimented with some of the newest, and still the oldest, methods for control of slaves. Ancient Rome would envy us if my program is implemented. As our boat sailed south on the James River, named for our illustrious King, whose version of the Bible we cherish, I saw enough to know that your problem is not unique. While Rome used cords of wood as crosses for standing human bodies along its highways in great numbers, you are here using the tree and the rope on occasions. I caught the whiff of a dead slave hanging from a tree, a couple miles back. You are not only losing valuable stock by hangings, you are having uprisings, slaves are running away, your crops are sometimes left in the fields too long for maximum profit, you suffer occasional fires, your animals are killed. Gentlemen, you know what your problems are; I do not need to elaborate. I am not here to enumerate your problems, I am here to introduce you to a method of solving them. In my bag here, I HAVE A FULL PROOF METHOD FOR CONTROLLING YOUR BLACK SLAVES. I guarantee every one of you that, if installed correctly, IT WILL CONTROL THE SLAVES FOR AT LEAST 300 HUNDREDS YEARS. My method is simple. Any member of your family or your overseer can use it. I HAVE OUTLINED A NUMBER OF DIFFERENCES AMONG THE SLAVES; AND I TAKE THESE DIFFERENCES AND MAKE THEM BIGGER. I USE FEAR, DISTRUST AND ENVY FOR CONTROL PURPOSES. These methods have worked on my modest plantation in the West Indies and it will work throughout the South. Take this simple little list of differences and think about them. On top of my list is “AGE,” but it’s there only because it starts with an “a.” The second is “COLOR” or shade. There is INTELLIGENCE, SIZE, SEX, SIZES OF PLANTATIONS, STATUS on plantations, ATTITUDE of owners, whether the slaves live in the valley, on a hill, East, West, North, South, have fine hair, course hair, or is tall or short. Now that you have a list of differences, I shall give you an outline of action, but before that, I shall assure you that DISTRUST IS STRONGER THAN TRUST AND ENVY STRONGER THAN ADULATION, RESPECT OR ADMIRATION. The Black slaves after receiving this indoctrination shall carry on and will become self-refueling and self-generating for HUNDREDS of years, maybe THOUSANDS. Don’t forget, you must pitch the OLD black male vs. the YOUNG black male, and the YOUNG black male against the OLD black male. You must use the DARK skin slaves vs. the LIGHT skin slaves, and the LIGHT skin slaves vs. the DARK skin slaves. You must use the FEMALE vs. the MALE, and the MALE vs. the FEMALE. You must also have white servants and overseers [who] distrust all Blacks. But it is NECESSARY THAT YOUR SLAVES TRUST AND DEPEND ON US. THEY MUST LOVE, RESPECT AND TRUST ONLY US. Gentlemen, these kits are your keys to control. Use them. Have your wives and children use them, never miss an opportunity. IF USED INTENSELY FOR ONE YEAR, THE SLAVES THEMSELVES WILL REMAIN PERPETUALLY DISTRUSTFUL. Thank you gentlemen.”

Mitchrose68~What am I doing to change anything? I write this blog that's about it at the moment. But I believe there needs to be a shift in paradigm in the minds of some black folks.

Interesting that you would post the Willie Lynch letter (I've seen it before) it's authenticity has been question but that's really not the point-- I believe it communicates the sentiment accurately -- the sentiment of the democrat party and their handling of the black community TO THIS DAY!!!! They use soft bigotry now it's so subtle that that unless the paradigm shift takes place in our minds we'll miss it -- well too many have missed it. They beguile the masses into believing they care by promising to take care of our needs and therein lies the problem.
