Just A Thought.....

The media is hyping that the notion that if Barack Obama is not elected it is because of the pervasive racism in America. This prompted me to do a bit of self-examination because before I decided to vote intelligently I was going to vote for Barack Obama solely because he is black and I didn't want to be on the wrong side of history -- I called it tribalism.

Let's face it 90% or more black people are voting for Barack Obama!!!! I wouldn't say it's solely because he is black because we are under the false assumption that Republicans are evil and we need change.

The point is we are quick to cry racism because we falsely believe that white Americans can't bring themselves to elect a black man but we call it tribalism when we vote for a candidate without regard to his position on key issues that effect our lives just because he is a black man. So the question becomes is Barack Obama going to be a victim of racism (if he loses) or is he going to cash in on tribalism(if he wins)? My "Aha" moment was the realization that tribalism= racism

So, to borrow a phrase from my pastor Lon Solomon .... "Not a sermon, just a thought"

when he loses, it will be because he shot himself in the foot on several occasions. the voters can pick their poison. i choose the jeremiah wright flap and some of b.o.'s evil associates who he may or may no longer be associated with. we'll never know because he lies so regularly. or he deflects with arrogance: "above my pay grade."

it's good that you evaluate your motives so honestly. i wish more people would do that.

I've heard this before too. Yes there are people who won't vote for Obama because he's black, but I think the number of people who will vote for him just because he is black far out number them. If anything the fact that Obama is black actually helps him.

I hope that this article is a mistake. I sincerely do. If not this is not helpful in solving the problems we face in this nation. Pathetic is the strongest word I could come up with. Again I hope that something is up with this one.

I have no statistics to prove this but I seriously wonder if 90+% of blacks will vote for Obama. More and more blacks that I contact these days have changed their political views over the years. I know it will probably be the majority but I seriously wonder about this high a percentage. It would not surprise me if there are more that are quiet conservatives because of the hell they will catch from other blacks, especially trying to keep peace with family members.

Here is my premise. I believe the only real answer for issues will come from the body of Christ who care more for others than their own self interests. Therefore religious freedom issues are the most important ones that I look at. A close second are the social/moral issues. To me they are married together.

Hey CBW! Last night I realized the racism and prejudice shown by the media and the Clintons was a strategy. By constantly harping on Obama's blackness and bringing up polls that say whites won't vote for him, they are making sure all black people will vote for him, since blacks are still bitter and suspicious of white people.

Chilling, isn't it?

Angela you are right. That is the race card in a nutshell. I believe those polls are as phony as a $3 bill. It is an insult because they think this strategy will work with all blacks. Basically they supposedly have the black vote sown up. Since their campaign polls were showing Obama's lead slipping they decided to provoke blacks with the race card. I suspect that some blacks have started actually looking at what he is standing for and not liking what they see. There are many issues that I have heard him detail solutions that scare me. One of the main ones is his health care plan. I do not remember the blog entry but I go into great detail with my concerns about it. In general I want less government in my life. They do not have the capacity nor the wisdom to take care of my life better than I do. In theory this is my main problem with Obama and the Democratic party in general. This point is why Republicans lost the majorities in both houses of Congress. They forgot that distinction. I know I was passed angry with the spending. If people think that the Democrats are going to reduce spending think again.
