A Nation Forsaking It's God....

PSBO has been in office 71 days and already he has denied the role that Christianity has played in the founding of this nation. He has denied Jesus Christ and the blessings that He has bestowed on this nation. I'm not surprised. I knew this would happen and I'm am heartbroken that so many Christians have gleefully thrown our Lord under a bus as they continue to support PSBO and his wicked, Godless agenda. It has come to my attention today that our Miscreant-In-Chief is planning to roll-back the conscience clause: "The Obama administration plans to reverse a regulation from late in the Bush administration allowing health-care workers to refuse to provide services based on moral objections, an official said Friday. The Provider Refusal Rule was proposed by the Bush White House in August and enacted on January 20, the day President Barack Obama took office. It expanded on a 30-year-old law establishing a "conscience clause" for "health-care professionals who don't want to perform abortions."
So, the change that liberals and not so liberal Black American Christians were so excited about is turning out to be unadulterated tyranny. Medical professional may soon be forced to perform abortions or lose their jobs. How on Earth Christians can get the warm and fuzzies about PSBO is beyond me. Yes, I question exactly what god they are serving as it can't be Christ Jesus -- it can't be!

Pro choice is only for women who want to kill their babies. Not for doctors, not for people who want to choose their kids' school, or anything else.

Why don't health care professionals who don't believe in abortion work for health care providers who don't practice them?

JudyBright~You have a brilliant way of stating the obvious. That's absolutely correct and but I never thought of it that way...lol.

DJBA~So OB-GYN should start practicing Urology, Cardiology or some other line of practice? The reversal of the conscience clause would take away the option of Providers to opt out of abortions.

@CBW:

O.K. Looking at the article (http://www.cnn.com/2009/POLITICS/02/27/conscience.rollback/)it reads: "Under the rule, workers in health-care settings -- from doctors to janitors -- can refuse to provide services, information or advice to patients on subjects such as contraception, family planning, blood transfusions and even vaccine counseling if they are morally against it."

Blood transfusions? Vaccines? This rule went too far, it should have been reversed. Further:

Further, Obama has reversed the EXPANSIONS of the original 30 year old rule which still stands and is: "The clause, although allowing medical professionals not to perform procedures against their conscience, does not allow professionals to give fraudulent information to deter a patient from obtaining such a procedure (such as lying about the risks involved in an abortion to deter one from obtaining one) in order to impose one's belief using deception. These principles were reaffirmed in the Utah Supreme Court's decision in Wood v. University of Utah Medical Center (2002). Commenting on the case, bioethicst Jacob Appel of New York University wrote that "if only a small number of physicians intentionally or negligently withhold information from their patients significant damage is done to the medical profession as a whole" because "pregnant women will no longer know whether to trust their doctors." from: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Conscience_clause_(medical)#History

Soooo, doctor's have to inform of what the real options are but DON'T HAVE TO DO ABORTIONS or other things they have a problem with, like VACCINATIONS and/or Blood Transfusions, so I guess the Jehovah's Witnesses can stay calm.

Further, it appears that some states have their OWN laws (which should make you righties happy since you all hate the FEDERAL government telling states what to do an all) from the same WIKI: "Conscience clauses have been adopted by a number of U.S. states. including Arkansas, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Mississippi, Pennsylvania, and South Dakota. "

So what the Obama administration has rfeally done, is reject Bushes ADDITIONS to an already existing law that has numerous state laws that already have their own standards.

DJBA~I followed the link you provided and I didn't find the passage you referenced instead I found:

"Health care providers opposed to abortion or contraception support the clauses because without them, they would be obliged to supply lawful professional services to which they objected, and potentially be subject to disciplinary or legal action for refusing.

You and I may believe that refusing a vaccination is ridiculous but some providers may be opposed to it because they have information about effects or lack of research and may not feel comfortable giving those vaccines. I believe that if a providers conscience isn't clear regarding even the removal of an in-grown toe nail they should have a the right of refusal. As long as they provide all the information regarding options the patients are free to go elsewhere. The article embedded puts it this way and I agree:
"President's Obama's intention to change the language of these protections would result in the government becoming the conscience and not the individual. It is a person's right to exercise their moral judgment, not the government's to decide it for them."

Ok, I found it under the informed consent section....but if that's the case then I'm not too outraged. But I'm not so sure that accurate.

Is it presumed that Christianity had a role in the founding of the NFL because many of those founding fathers were Christians? This nation's founding fathers were Christians before they even conceived of founding a new nation and discontentment with the way Christianity was being practiced under the existing regime was not the reason they revolted. They revolted for political/economic reasons, and had those concerns been addressed I don't think they would have felt any biblical mandate to form a new nation. A new political state was formed by those who happened to be Christians, not because of Christianity and not because they intended to form a theocracy. They expressly separated their personal religious beliefs from the secular construction of the State in order to ensure freedom of conscience and so that their or other's beliefs would not tyrannize free but different men.

If the President denies Jesus Christ in church, then Christians have a problem. But as President he has no obligation to what you may conceive as "God's agenda". And I personally don't want him to decide what that is; and I wouldn't be thrilled to have you in that role either. But if you feel qualified, let me ask you, exactly when did the forsaking begin? Who judges what "forsaking" comprises? How many people are lined up to cast the first stone? Who's the target? And isn't choice also for women who choose to have and raise their babies. Most of the opponents of choice are upset that there is a choice. Jesus whipped the moneychangers from the Temple he didn't whip them "in". I would think choice would be important to God.

As far as doctors and public health figures go, should they be allowed to decide whether they will treat AIDS patients, or alcoholics and drug addicts? How about murders and thieves? If they personally knew that a patient coveted his neighbor's wife, is that sin a disqualification for treatment? I respect and accept Doctors making choices of conscience, but it is not the role of government to make a society where such choices don't exist. It is the role of religion to inform the heart and mind that choice exists. Public policy must be consistant with the secular rules of society. We don't want everyone with a bible, or who can rent a storefront and erect a pulpit to have their own rules of conduct which everyone else must follow.

It always amazes me how social conservatives can conveniently forget to be capitalists and the blessings they always credit it with bestowing on this nation. You do have school choice. All you have to do is pay for it. Is that too much freedom for you?

Anonymous~Here are the stubborn facts:

"And if that is not convincing, history is a great indicator of our nation’s Christian foundation. The Founders themselves were 90 to 95% Christians while the general population was 98% Christian. Obama may be entitled to his opinions, but he is not entitled to his facts.

Our Founders based their notions of liberty under God on the great Christian legal minds that had gone before them: Calvin, Knox, Rutherford, Locke, Montesquieu, etc. The Bible is the single most quoted book in all our founding documents.

The sixth President of the United States and son of the second President, John Quincy Adams said, "The highest glory of the American Revolution was, it connected in one indissoluble bond, the principles of civil government with the principles of Christianity." He was a little closer to the facts than the 45th President Obama.

President James Madison wrote, “We have staked the whole future of American civilization, not upon the power of government, far from it. We have staked the future of all of our political institutions upon the capacity of mankind for self-government; upon the capacity of each and all of us to govern ourselves, to control ourselves, to sustain ourselves according to the Ten Commandments of God” (Madison, 1785).

John Adams said “Statesmen, my dear Sir, may plan and speculate for liberty, but it is Religion and Morality alone, which can establish the Principles upon which Freedom can securely stand. The only foundation of a free Constitution is pure Virtue, and if this cannot be inspired into our People in a greater Measure, than they have it now, they may change their Rulers and the forms of Government but they will not obtain a lasting liberty” (Adams, June 21, 1776).

Another signer, Samuel Huntington, who would also go on to be the President of Congress, and the Governor of Connecticut, had similar sentiments in regards to Christianity and the nation. “It becomes a people publicly to acknowledge the over-ruling hand of Divine Providence and their dependence upon the Supreme Being as their Creator and Merciful Preserver . . . and with becoming humility and sincere repentance to supplicate the pardon that we may obtain forgiveness through the merits and mediation of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ” (Huntington, A Proclamation for a Day of Fasting, Prayer and Humiliation).

John Witherspoon wrote of the importance of Christianity to the American society, writing “[H]e is the best friend to American liberty who is the most sincere and active in promoting true and undefiled religion, and who sets himself with the greatest firmness to bear down profanity and immorality of every kind. Whoever is an avowed enemy of God, I scruple not to call him an enemy to his country” (Witherspoon, The Works of the Reverend John Witherspoon, 42).

The Supreme Court has ruled that we are a Christian nation. The Supreme Court thoroughly studied this issue, and in 1892 gave what is known as the Trinity Decision. In that decision the Supreme Court declared, "this is a Christian nation."

The whole purpose of the founding of the American colonies was so that the citizens could escape religious persecution and serve God according to the dictates of their own Christian conscience.

If we are not a Christian nation, then why are there emblazoned over the Speaker of the House in the US Capitol the words "In God We Trust?” Why does the Supreme Court building built in the 1930's have carvings of Moses and the Ten Commandments? Why do they begin each season with a prayer: “God save the United States and this honorable court?”

God is mentioned in stone all over Washington D.C. on its monuments and buildings. As a nation, we have celebrated Christmas to commemorate the Savior's birth for centuries. Oaths in our courtrooms have invoked God from the beginning.

Perhaps Obama forgot his recent inauguration. Prayers were offered and he was sworn in on the Bible, saying the words, "So help me God." Our national pledge mentions God. The Liberty Bell has a Bible verse engraved on it. The original constitution of all 50 states mentions God. Chaplains have been in the public payroll from the very beginning. Our nation’s birth certificate, the Declaration of Independence, mentions God four times. The Bible was used as a textbook in the schools.

President Obama has his history wrong. He may be guilty of pandering to anti-Christian secular Europeans and Muslims or perhaps he is just paying back the radical secularists in America who supported him by advancing the secularist’s agenda."

Why yes, that's why we have the New Orleans Saints.

However, the Pittsburgh Steelers are evidence of our fallen world
