If This is True Then I'm Not Sure That Even I Can Handle It....

The question has been raised regarding the integrity of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Were it not for the blatant media cover-up and mass Obama mania that I have witnessed during this the longest election campaign in history, I would not have even given this notion a second thought. It would have been summarily dismissed in my mind just as the Obama acolytes dismiss information about him if it's even slightly negative. However, since I have been admonishing folks to stop worshiping demagogues and ideologies then I must follow my own advice when it comes to Dr. King. Not sure that I will post anything further on the subject should I find compelling information that leads me to believe that these things are true as not even I have the "cojones" to dive into those murky waters (at least in this public forum--hit a sistah up privately if you' d like to talk).

But that begs the question of how important is the truth? Is truth less important than having iconic cultural paragons?

Mythologies and their message?
As long as people understand that they're just stories or personalities used to convey a helpful message, they're fine.

So UBJ would you agree that style over substance trumps the inconvenient truth?

Hi Dev from Canada~I have heard about MLK womanizing and I hate to say that is not as big a hurdle for me as the allegations of plagerizism of his Phd. thesis and many of his writings and speeches. It's also been said that he had some ties to the Communist party.

But the main thing that I am going to explore is whether or not he denied the diety of Christ in his writings. Being that he was a baptist minister with the universal support of the black church behind him I will find this most problematic should I find that it's true.
