Our doctors were Cuban. A lot of interaction. They were of every race.
I have been to Cuba as a Jamaican to see family/friends who were there in medical school. And also as a Brisih tourist to the beaches.
So yes I have seen both sides. What they wanted the tourists to see and regular Cuba.
Is Cuba poor yes, is it the poorest country I have seen no. India and parts of africa I have been to were poorer.

And the fact that Blacks are treated badly. That is the history of the Caribbean and South America.
Go to Brazil, which has the biggest black population outside of Africa. The blacks are second class citizens. I go and I am a mestivo (brown skinn) with a british accent. Hugo Chavez I dont agree with his politics but one of the reasons he is hated. He has black blood. And to the people of his country with European blood. No No NO.
In the Caribbean/South America there is/was a caste system. Europeans, Chinese, Lebanese/Jews/Syrians,Indians and last blacks.
So how is Cuba different? Travel through the region and see how blacks are treated. One of my brothers was in JA governement and so has to do a lot of travel in the Caribbean/Americas. He said it was eye opening.

Castro has murdered thousands of people (not right). But when has that stopped us from talking or doing business with a country. Such as Russia,China Zimbabwe, Apartheid South Africa. The list goes on. There needs to be consistency.

What would Cuba be like if maybe we had talked to them? And worked with them.
Why can't family members visit Cuba regularly? What does that ban accomplish.Ivyalfhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11830666645086800330noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2081245598457508568.post-34095418482335755532009-04-08T12:55:00.000-04:002009-04-08T12:55:00.000-04:00@CBW:"It was actually a great help to me personall...@CBW:

"It was actually a great help to me personally 2 weekends ago because I experienced a personal crisis and your words were edifiying."

I am not glad to hear you had a persoanl crisis, but I am glad to hear the book was helpful.
