Also that conservative court upheld the ban on partial birth abortions. which will be next on the Obama chopping block.

I would like to know what I said that grieved you so much, as I try not to be offensive. I am not sure what you are disagreeing with. Adam you made some statements about Bush's African party that were specious and I posted proof that he did more for the continent of Africa than any other president republican or democrat. You ignored that demonstrable proof and attacked me.

Then you made spurious remarks about the financial trouble the country faces, So I posted proof that can also be checked by anyone with an inclination, to illustrate that in fact the Bush administrations efforts to prevent the crisis were ignored by the legislature. Instead of countering the demonstrable facts that I offered with evidence to the contrary, you again attacked me.

I did not give you my opinion, I gave you hard facts that are a part of the public record, a record that is ignored by a biased mainstream media. Again you are attacking me and ignoring the evidence I have offered. As CBw stated my views are not driven by the republican party, they are driven by the Word of God, We are admonished to take on the mind of Christ. I am filled with the Holy Ghost and I heed His teaching. Life is the most precious gift bestowed on man by a loving God, so precious in fact that He gave His son so that those who believe on Him can have that life for all of eternity in loving fellowship with the Creator God and each other.

Abortion is THE issue, because without the gift of life to start, you never get to the other issues. Satan is know to do good works to mask his intentions as well. If you compare the halfway point of President Clinton's tenure to that of the Bush administration. In 1996, the poverty level in the USA stood at 13.7 percent. In 2004, the poverty level was 12.7 percent, Bush beats Clinton by a full percentage point.

As far as entitlement spending on poverty programs is concerned, it isn't even close. In 1996, President Clinton directed 12.2 percent of spending towards the poor. In 2004, Bush added 2 percent more than Clinton to poverty programs, $329 billion. this was just at the mid way point of his presidency compared to the midway point of the Clinton presidency, poverty spending under Bush increased from there, In fact, President Bush again spent more on poverty and entitlement programs and education than any president in history. this was one of the biggest complaints that fiscal conservatives had with Bush, that he drove the deficit up with programs for the poor without raising taxes.

I can tell Adam that you are used to spouting your unsubstantiated dogma unopposed.

Here is a little more factual information not based on emotionalism.

Under George W. Bush; the country had 6 straight years of uninterrupted economic growth, up until the last quarter. In fact the economy was humming along brilliantly until the 2006 elections. While again riding that same wave of Bush Derangement Syndrome and promises to end the war in Iraq, (not on economic issues) the democrats took over both houses of congress. They did nothing on the Iraqi front, and did everything they possibly could to undermine the administration economically. So here we are. Even though congress had an even lower approval rating than Bush. I am still waiting for; “man, if we could just get out from under this Reid and Pelosi economy, a black man could get ahead.

This is the actual timeline of the financial collapse and the documented attempts to reform them and the unheeded warnings of the president that were blocked by congress. Again facts not hyperbole:

President Bush publicly called for GSE reform 17 times in 2008 alone before Congress acted. Unfortunately, these warnings went unheeded, as the President's repeated attempts to reform the supervision of these entities were thwarted by the legislative maneuvering of those who emphatically denied there were problems.

2001

April: The Administration's FY02 budget declares that the size of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac is "a potential problem," because "financial trouble of a large GSE could cause strong repercussions in financial markets, affecting Federally insured entities and economic activity."

2002

May: The President calls for the disclosure and corporate governance principles contained in his 10-point plan for corporate responsibility to apply to Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac. (OMB Prompt Letter to OFHEO, 5/29/02)

2003

January: Freddie Mac announces it has to restate financial results for the previous three years.

February: The Office of Federal Housing Enterprise Oversight (OFHEO) releases a report explaining that "although investors perceive an implicit Federal guarantee of [GSE] obligations," "the government has provided no explicit legal backing for them." As a consequence, unexpected problems at a GSE could immediately spread into financial sectors beyond the housing market. ("Systemic Risk: Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac and the Role of OFHEO," OFHEO Report, 2/4/03)

September: Fannie Mae discloses SEC investigation and acknowledges OFHEO's review found earnings manipulations.

September: Treasury Secretary John Snow testifies before the House Financial Services Committee to recommend that Congress enact "legislation to create a new Federal agency to regulate and supervise the financial activities of our housing-related government sponsored enterprises" and set prudent and appropriate minimum capital adequacy requirements.

October: Fannie Mae discloses $1.2 billion accounting error.

November: Council of the Economic Advisers (CEA) Chairman Greg Mankiw explains that any "legislation to reform GSE regulation should empower the new regulator with sufficient strength and credibility to reduce systemic risk." To reduce the potential for systemic instability, the regulator would have "broad authority to set both risk-based and minimum capital standards" and "receivership powers necessary to wind down the affairs of a troubled GSE." (N. Gregory Mankiw, Remarks At The Conference Of State Bank Supervisors State Banking Summit And Leadership, 11/6/03)

2004

February: The President's FY05 Budget again highlights the risk posed by the explosive growth of the GSEs and their low levels of required capital, and called for creation of a new, world-class regulator: "The Administration has determined that the safety and soundness regulators of the housing GSEs lack sufficient power and stature to meet their responsibilities, and therefore…should be replaced with a new strengthened regulator." (2005 Budget Analytic Perspectives, pg. 83)

February: CEA Chairman Mankiw cautions Congress to "not take [the financial market's] strength for granted." Again, the call from the Administration was to reduce this risk by "ensuring that the housing GSEs are overseen by an effective regulator." (N. Gregory Mankiw, Op-Ed, "Keeping Fannie And Freddie's House In Order," Financial Times, 2/24/04)

June: Deputy Secretary of Treasury Samuel Bodman spotlights the risk posed by the GSEs and called for reform, saying "We do not have a world-class system of supervision of the housing government sponsored enterprises (GSEs), even though the importance of the housing financial system that the GSEs serve demands the best in supervision to ensure the long-term vitality of that system. Therefore, the Administration has called for a new, first class, regulatory supervisor for the three housing GSEs: Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, and the Federal Home Loan Banking System." (Samuel Bodman, House Financial Services Subcommittee on Oversight and Investigations Testimony, 6/16/04)

2005

April: Treasury Secretary John Snow repeats his call for GSE reform, saying "Events that have transpired since I testified before this Committee in 2003 reinforce concerns over the systemic risks posed by the GSEs and further highlight the need for real GSE reform to ensure that our housing finance system remains a strong and vibrant source of funding for expanding homeownership opportunities in America… Half-measures will only exacerbate the risks to our financial system." (Secretary John W. Snow, "Testimony Before The U.S. House Financial Services Committee," 4/13/05)

2007

July: Two Bear Stearns hedge funds invested in mortgage securities collapse.

August: President Bush emphatically calls on Congress to pass a reform package for Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, saying "first things first when it comes to those two institutions. Congress needs to get them reformed, get them streamlined, get them focused, and then I will consider other options." (President George W. Bush, Press Conference, The White House, 8/9/07)

September: RealtyTrac announces foreclosure filings up 243,000 in August – up 115 percent from the year before.

September: Single-family existing home sales decreases 7.5 percent from the previous month – the lowest level in nine years. Median sale price of existing homes fell six percent from the year before.

December: President Bush again warns Congress of the need to pass legislation reforming GSEs, saying "These institutions provide liquidity in the mortgage market that benefits millions of homeowners, and it is vital they operate safely and operate soundly. So I've called on Congress to pass legislation that strengthens independent regulation of the GSEs – and ensures they focus on their important housing mission. The GSE reform bill passed by the House earlier this year is a good start. But the Senate has not acted. And the United States Senate needs to pass this legislation soon." (President George W. The right might as well build a temple and an altar to their "god" Reagan. The Cult of Reagan is real, to the point even Barack was afraid to critsize "reaganomics".

Bill Kristol: Wiating on Reagan:

"“..It's foolish to wait for another Ronald Reagan. But not just because his political gifts are rare. There's a particular way in which Reagan was exceptional that many of us fail to appreciate: He was the only president of the last century who came to the office as the leader of an ideological movement…"

And this blogger breaks down the Reagan Cult very well: http://thepinkflamingo.blogharbor.com/blog/_archives/2008/1/21/3479068.html

14 COMMON TRAITS OF A CULT
The following information about cults is from Marcia Rudin's 14 Common Characteristics of a Cult

“1. Members swear total allegiance to an all-powerful leader who they believe to be the Messiah.”

I think we’re past go here. Conservatives must swear allegiance to Ronald Reagan the Incarnate of all that is Perfect Conservative A perfect example of this is today when Rasmussen reported that Romney is now ahead in Florida. I hate to burst their bubble, but Survey USA’s most recent study makes Rasmussen look bad.

“2. Rational thought is discouraged or forbidden.”

It is more than just conservative now. Even Barry Obama, one of the most liberal Dems in DC is quoting Reagan. (Flopping Aces)
Where’s Lloyd Benson when you need him?

“…But I think, when I think about great presidents, I think about those who transform how we think about ourselves as a country in fundamental ways...And, you know, there are circumstances in which, I would argue, Ronald Reagan was a very successful president, even though I did not agree with him on many issues, partly because at the end of his presidency, people, I think, said, “You know what? We can regain our greatness. Individual responsibility and personal responsibility are important.” And they transformed the culture and not simply promoted one or two particular issues….” Barack Obama

“3. The cult's recruitment techniques are often deceptive.”

You got that right. All that is required is indoctrination through the cult of Limbaugh, daily. Then add a dash of Hannity, a little Townhall and you’re dealing with a nice clean brain, washed off all critical thought.

“4. The cult weakens the follower psychologically by making him or her depend upon the group to solve his or her problems. “

I think this goes without say. A problem arises, you reach for Reagan. A candidate must quote Reagan, worship Reagan, swear eternal allegiance to what is Reagan. If a thinking person strays by stating that the Cult of Reagan Incarnate is mis-representing what and who Ronald Reagan truly was.

“5. The cults manipulate guilt to their advantage.”

You stray, you are destroyed by Rush, Hewitt, Hannity, Coulter, Malkin, Ingraham, etc.

“6. The cult leader makes all the career and life decision of the members.”

Limbaugh hates McCain, therefore McCain must be destroyed. Lindsey Graham disagrees with Rush, ergo Lindsey must be destroyed.

“7. Cults exist only for their own material survival and make false promises to work to improve society.”

We’re not there yet, but I swear some conservatives are damning McCain simply to prop up their own checkbooks by a McCain loss. They all know Romney is unelectable.

“8. Cult members often work fulltime for the group for little or no pay.”

Do Lemming conservatives do anything else?

“9. Cult members are isolated from the outside world and any reality testing it could provide.”

Oh, yea. This is very much the case.

“10. Cults are anti-woman, anti-child, and anti-family. “

(does not apply) Of course Rush does name fun of feminists.

“11. Cults are apocalyptic and believe themselves to be the remnant who will survive the soon-approaching end of the world.”

I think the end of the world would be a McCain Presidency. Outside the Beltway has a posting today about just such an incident. The Republican died Saturday when Fred lost. Dear Lord in heaven give me a break!
The comments following the article prove conservatives are now in an apocalyptic mode.

“12. Many cults follow an "ends justify the means" philosophy.”

We are past go with this one, trust me. The Opinionated Catholic does a good job on this one today.

“13. Cults, particularly in regard to their finances, are shrouded in secrecy.”

This one doesn’t apply

“14. There is frequently an aura of or potential for violence around cults.”

There are veiled threats against any candidate who disagrees with the conservative party line. There are threats against the GOP to withhold votes, etc. Kiko’s House has an excellent commentary about this today. And threats from Rick Moran if Mac is nominated.

“…But frankly, I will hold harmless any conservative who wishes to stay at home on election day if John McCain is the nominee. For myself, I don’t know what I will do as far as voting but I know that he will receive no favors from me on this blog. The same would probably be true for Romney as well. My heart just wouldn’t be in promoting the candidacy of a man as changeable as the former center-left governor of Massachussets….Whether conservatives hold their nose and vote for him or stay at home it will hardly matter in the long run. McCain will not govern as a conservative and will almost surely freeze conservatives out of major policy positions. If this is what Rush Limbaugh and others mean by destroying the party by making it simply a poor echo of the Democrats then count me out. I hardly see a difference between the damage that would be done by a McCain or Obama/Hillary….”DJ Black Adamhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15258897246879725176noreply@blogger.com
