What are You First and Foremost...Black or Christian?

I am hard pressed to find one black christian who is not a cheerleader for Barack Obama. I find this quite puzzling in lieu of his very liberal stance on partial birth abortion.

I am ready for an African American president but at what cost? Can I let that zeal overide the fact that I'm pro-life?

Check out where Mr. Obama stands and votes on the issues or our day.

Conservative Black Woman, I share your frustration. I'm still not fully convinced by John McCain, although I was pleased with his performance at Saddleback church. I'm still waiting on his pick for VP.

Identity politics is a major theme this election season. I identify with Christ before anyone or anything else, but when Obama first arrived on the scene, I couldn't help feeling a sense of pride with his rapid ascension. However, after learning more about his record and political philosophy, I realized that I could never vote for him. I find myself alone among my family and friends, but I must hold my convictions.

I agree with Conservative Black Woman and tntfaith's comments. I am a conservative black married woman but I am Messianic, formerly Christian. My only allegiance is with Adonai(God) by faith in His son Yeshua (Jesus).

Outside of race, I don't identify with Obama. (Hey, isn't his birth certificate still in question?) McCain was not my choice either. I must say though, it's been interesting to watch some family & friends FINALLY see how truly racist the Democratic party is & has been when they see the facts for themselves. Now, I'm no longer alone in my convictions. Hang in there tntfaith.

Politics is local and as a native western NY resident, I want to see how this election trickles down here.

I did not support nor will I support the policies of Obama, Clinton, nor anyone of any party that (1) spits in the eye of God's principles as defined in the Bible and (2) believes that people are too stupid to solve their own problems. I an absolutely against big government. This is why the Republicans lost seats in both houses of Congress in 2006.

One of the issues I'm really concerned about is health care. While being a caretaker for my sick father I had a taste of dealing with Medicare (almost three years worth). I had no real issues with my Dad's medical bills being paid. My Dad retired from the military so he was able to get a medigap plan for military retirees for him and Mom. However because of some of the cutbacks in what doctors get paid my Mom is having a hard time finding a doctor. More and more will not take her as a patient. I thank God that my Dad's doctor took Mom as a patient. I don't think he would have otherwise. After Dad died I called the office to confirm that she was still considered one of his patients. She is in good health these days but I do not want her to be in a position where she cannot find a doctor to treat her. Needless to say I'm really scared of any candidate that will force all of us to become a part of a national government run health care system. If current doctors are reluctant to take Medicare patients what will happen to our health care system? it will become a police state. I remember when Pres. Clinton first got into office. A book was released about the health care plan that they were suggesting. I purchased the book and was absolutely horrified at what I read. It was worse than HMO plans. If doctors treated patients that were not in their area they would be issued severe fines and I believe possibly jail time. The name of the book is Health security : the President's report to the American people You can check this out in your local library. I had a copy of the book but threw it away not thinking that Hilary Clinton would run for president.

This is one of the main reasons I just could not support Obama. The only difference that I ever heard him say about his plan and Hilary's plan is that if companies did not provide health insurance they would be forced to pay into the government's plan. That would immediately close down small businesses. I owned a small business at one time. We were barely paying workers comp insurance premiums for one employee. If we were still running that business I would shut mine down with the costs of health care insurance. I fear more job losses with his health care plan. I can tell that Obama has never done anything with business. Only huge rich companies will be able to comply with this.
